Violet Green's Soft & Cosy Quick-Knit Scarf, for thick wool
This quick & easy scarf pattern belongs to Violet Green; please don't copy/cut & paste/otherwise reproduce this pattern, but do feel free to link to it if you'd like to.

Requires 200g of thick wool and a pair of 12mm knitting needles.

To make the scarf:

Using 12mm needles, cast on 11 stitches.

The pattern:

  1. Knit 3, purl 1, knit 3, purl 1, knit 3.
  2. Purl 3, knit 1, purl 3, knit 1, purl 3.

Repeat these two pattern rows until the scarf is as long as you want it to be, ending with a row 2.

Bind off in pattern, as follows:

  • Slip 1 stitch, knit next stitch, then pass the slipped stitch back over the knitted stitch;
  • Knit next stitch, then pass the first stitch from the right hand needle back over the stitch you just knit;
  • Purl next stitch, then pass the first stitch from the right hand needle back over the stitch you just purled;
Continue in this manner until all the stitches are bound off.

Sew in loose end.

Ready to wear!
